Hits the Spot!

By Sarah P. on May 19, 2010

Buy this odd-looking, yet extremely handy device if you have a hard-to-reach spot that needs constant attention. Especially useful for the back or if you need to apply a good amount of pressure on spots such as the bottom of the foot. Things I like best about it include:

-it’s lightweight

-handles positioned so you can keep pressure on a spot while rubbing

-is in the shape of a “hook” so virtually no spot is out of reach

Intended for those who need to regularly massage out tense areas in the muscles, it’s a very useful tool- and cheaper than therapy! Also recommend Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis if you suffer from chronic back pain.

Useful

One thing to remember when using this cane, that I learned through my own research, is that if you are having any kind of muscle pain then you might want to consider if it’s the fascia that’s locking in that muscle pain. Fascia is best described as a type of saran wrap that covers all of your muscles in your body. It can be damaged by many things, including prolonged sitting.

Anyways, you want to use this cane in a manner that goes in the opposite direction of the muscle. Example: the muscles in your legs run vertically so if your problem is in this area, then you should find a position on the floor where you can extend your leg and use short strokes horizontally on the trouble spot. Pull a little bit like you would when you stretch then release. You have to probe around to find where the spot on your body is where the fascia is crosslinked. If this is what the problem is then you will know because it is almost painful when you pull it at first in the opposite direction. Work at it a few nights a week, not too much at first. Best done when the muscles are warm(after a shower or use a hotpack) then stretch out the area The muscle can’t be stretched properly without breaking these crosslinks.

After you break the crosslinks you need to stretch EVERY night to make sure that the muscles don’t crosslink again, especially if you have a job where you sit down all day. In as little as a week they can start to re-form.

I have done a lot of personal research on the web because I wasn’t getting very many positive results from any of the professionals that I saw. I worked on myself and now I have no more of that nagging pain that use to run down my right leg.

I also sit on a towel covered rolling pin in my car to relieve the pressure in the back of my upper thighs and it has helped tremendously.

It worked for me…might work for you also. Goodluck!!!

AWESOME ITEM!

By Lisa on April 9, 2005

I am a CHRONIC back pain sufferer. I have all types of devices I have tried on my back from the back pounding massager to the roller ball device, etc. NOTHING has given me relief like the Theracane. This is the PERFECT thing to get at those knotted up muscle knots you get in your back. I used to try laying on a tennis ball or mashing my back on something to rub those bunched up muscles spots, but nothing really helped. THE THERACANE DOES DOES DOES! I love this product. It has helped me literally dissolve a spot that has been tight and knotted for years! The best thing is you don’t have to have someone do it for you–you can fix your problem areas all alone. It’s really an incredible product. I’m so happy I tried it. My entire family uses it. You won’t find ANYTHING at this price that can help your back like this is helping mine. I truely love it! It WILL help you if your back pain is from sore, tight, knotted muscle areas.

Better than driving to therapy, almost as effective!

By Dopy Doorite on February 1, 2011

I’ve been using theracanes for about 10 years. Over the years I purchased a half dozen of them, not because they wear out, but to keep them handy when I need it. I keep one in each of my cars, and both tv rooms in my home. I know that sounds crazy, but this thing absolutely does miracles and I need to keep one close by.

I had neck surgery 11 years ago, and I suffer from constant neck pain that radiates from the very base of my skull down both sides of my neck, the muscles on either side, and into my shoulders. When my pain medication lets me down, I turn to my theracane. Once you learn how to use it properly, and I emphasize the word “properly” it is extremely effective at getting to the trigger points, and down to the very spot the pain originates from. Apparently, by messaging the exact spot, it gets the blood flowing through that spot, as if your doctor just injected a bit of cortisone into it. And even though it increases pain just by pressing on the spot,it “works out’ the pain just by messaging it with the theracane. Believe me, it is effective and does work for the relief of muscle pain.

As an experience user of this little gadget, I caution anyone who has similar pain in the neck area to be really careful messaging around the spinal cord area, particularly after a laminectomy where some of the spinal support has been removed. If you slip with this by applying too much pressure, by pressing on those nerves around the spinal canal you could get severe shooting pains down the shoulders and arms. So be careful, even when you become accustomed to using it. I learned all this the hard way, because the pain management doctor that recommended this device to me failed to caution me in how to use it around area of my neck surgery.

With this caution, I highly recommend it!
